Matthew R. Miller, Esq.

Matt grew up on the Jersey Shore in New Jersey. As a pitcher, he found himself in 1990 moving out to California to play baseball at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
In 1992, Pepperdine won the National Championship. After graduating and earning two degrees in Political Science and History, he moved to San Diego where his parents had recently relocated from New Jersey. He attended California Western School of Law. In law school, he quickly realized that he wanted to be in the courtroom competing and winning. He immersed himself with trial practice and took every opportunity to learn the trade.
During law school, Matt interned at both the Public Defenders and District Attorneys’ Office, where he tried several cases, handled numerous preliminary hearings (mini-trials), arraignments, and sentencing hearings. This courtroom action was invaluable as he gained the experience and know-how that most students do not.
In 1997, Matt earned his degree and passed the bar. He immediately obtained a position at a small boutique law firm, Jeffrey & Dreher, where he worked with two well-respected attorneys specializing in class action and investment fraud cases. Over 12 years, Matt worked on numerous large and complex cases including multi-million dollar class actions against companies including Macy’s and Discount Tire. Matt has always loved the opportunities that working for a small firm has provided him – close client contact, hands-on legal experience from day one of his career and the ability to immediately get in the trenches and try cases as a young lawyer. As a result, Matt has tried over 15 cases, handled over 100 depositions of parties and experts witnesses, fought for and won a plethora of important motions, and tackled the Appellate Court on appeal in numerous cases.
In January, 2011, Matt started his own law firm. He lives in Carlsbad with his wife Lisa, whom he met in law school and is a well-respected partner of a large multi-national law firm in San Diego. They are the proud parents of two beautiful, fun-loving six year old twin boys, Cole and Luke.
When he is not fighting in the Courts, he loves spending time with his family, cooking, painting, honing his barbeque skills and adding to his wine collection.
